PON yana nufin hanyar sadarwa ta fiber optic, wacce hanya ce mai mahimmanci don gudanar da ayyukan cibiyar sadarwa ta hanyar sadarwa.
Fasahar PON ta samo asali ne a shekarar 1995. Daga baya, bisa ga bambanci tsakanin Layer link Layer da na zahiri, fasahar PON ta kasa kasa a hankali zuwa APON, EPON, da GPON. Daga cikin su, an kawar da fasahar APON a kasuwa saboda tsadar ta da kuma ƙarancin bandwidth.
1, EPON
